Stockholm is in the middle of a sauna boom. We keep a list of every sauna in Stockholm County, with prices from each sauna’s own website. Here is the whole sauna scene in numbers.
The numbers
- 77 saunas open in Stockholm County, 21 of them in the City of Stockholm
- 39 public saunas (pay per person) and 52 you can book for your group
- A public sauna costs from 40 kr. Half cost 150 kr or less, and 11 cost less than 100 kr
- The whole sauna for a group costs from 205 kr. Half cost 1,090 kr or less
- 29 saunas have a wood stove, and 18 are floating saunas on the water
- 23 saunas by a lake or the sea are open in winter, 3 of them with a hole in the ice
New this year: the city’s own sauna
In June 2026 the City of Stockholm opened Hornstullsbastun at Hornstull, a public sauna with staff. It is a pilot project, it is open all year and a visit costs from 150 kr. This will be its first winter.

How we count
We list saunas that anyone can visit or book: public saunas, sauna clubs with public times, saunas to rent and day spas. We do not list swimming halls or private home saunas. Every fact comes from the sauna’s own website. We checked them on 12 October 2026. “From” means the lowest price we found.
